If you’re a frequent visitor to my blog you may have noticed a low-key update to the design. This is only temporary and a full overhaul is coming. There’s a reason for a new format; my career goals are changing and I’d like the blog to reflect what I’m interested in. You’ll still see my photography, but I’ll also be sharing my thoughts on cars, design, business, marketing or any other matter of interest.
This update represents an update to my personal branding — something mentioned a few times during my undergraduate journalism and photography classes, but not something I truly understood until I started taking classes in marketing.
What is personal branding? Essentially, it is how one markets themselves. Your brand represents who you are, what you’re passionate about, how authentic you are and, if properly executed, should encourage someone to reach out to you.
A brand incorporates many factors, but the first I’m going to tackle is the trademark. Your trademark is the visual representation of your brand. One of the initial steps I’m taking in the overhaul of this site is a new logo. While working on some designs this evening, I decided to play around a bit. Do any of these look familiar?
